The film is set at christmas time, when it would be snowing heavily so all the houses are leveled with snow. The first three shot show the scenery, starting with two establishing shots that lead to a long shot of street houses. The scenes are overlaid with the sound of jingle bells to fit in with the shots playing. This should give the audience an idea of where the place is set and the time of year, making them feel closer to the film. The sound of jingle jells is something familiar to the audience again tieing in with this idea.
The audience are then presented with a man chopping meat, this is shown in a mid shot to reveal a man but now show who he is or what he looks like, for this there will be light on the meat he is chopping but shadow on his face.
